- Read given material and research industry-specific terminology;
- Assist the graphics team in converting text and audio recordings from one language to another;
- Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone;
- Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation;
- Proofread translated texts ensure transparency;
- Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure);
- Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices;
- Should be ready to assist the Communications department in various tasks;
- Use translation software and create terminologies in various fields;
- Should be able to manage time and work under pressure on urgent tasks;
- Attend meetings to translate discussions;
- Continually take language fluency assessments to certify fluency.
- Must have a degree in Translation from a recognized institution of higher learning;
- The ability to grasp new concepts quickly, eg technical terms
- A clear writing style with impeccable knowledge of spelling and grammar
- Attention to details;
- Fluency in both English and French
- IT skills
- The ability to build good relationships;
- Must be able to work independently against deadlines;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure
- Multitasking ability
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a good team player;
- Experience working with civil society organizations is an advantage
